Melanie Savary, RVT
Melanie has been part of the Mission Valley Pet Clinic family since 1998. As everyone who has met or worked with Mel agree, she is amazing!
Melanie is a native San Diegan. She graduated from UCSD with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience. Melanie has been the Head Registered Veterinary Technician for many years. Everyone around her appreciates her dedication, compassion for her patients and her friendly, cheerful attitude!
Melanie attends continuing education meetings regularly, and her knowledge of veterinary medicine has enhanced the lives and treatment of many patients. She has expertise in many areas, including dentistry, cytology, medicine, nutrition, and behavior.
Melanie discovered her love of animals at a young age and brought home every stray animal she could find. She has an Orange tabby named Jasper, a three-toed box turtle named Catrina (poof-poof), and Jerry a golden retriever mix she adopted after he was abandoned at MVPC. Recently Jerry and Melanie have become a certified therapy team!
Melanie enjoys working at MVPC where she can put her love for animals to good use. In her free time, Melanie enjoys hiking, traveling,and spending time at the beach.
Jana Carrillo, RVT
Jana Carrillo joined MVPC in 2014 and we are very proud to have her as part of our team! She comes to MVPC with many years of experience as an RVT. Jana has been working in the veterinary field since 1997. She attended Grossmont College and then continued her education at Mesa College. She graduated with a degree in animal health technology and has worked at several veterinary hospitals. She was the owner of “GotPaws RVT Care”, providing relief veterinary technician services for a number of hospitals in San Diego.
Jana will tell you that “she loves what she does!” and her co-workers and patients are all enjoying her expertise and caring nature!
Jana has had the opportunity to travel along with her husband to where his work has sent him. She has worked in South Carolina, Maryland, and Virginia. She is now happy to settle back in San Diego once again.
Jana loves to spend time at the beach and watch movies with her husband and her young daughter. She has a dog named Kenny, 3 cats Tiki, Hula, Charlie and a very cute bunny named Elvis. Jana’s favorite vacation spot is Kauai, Hawaii, which she and her family visit once a year! “Aloha!!” from Jana.
Sarah joined Mission Valley Pet Clinic in 2003 as a receptionist. She took a brief absence in 2006 to travel but couldn't stay away long. Everyone at MVPC enjoys her enthusiastic, caring attitude and appreciates her drive for learning.
Sarah had planned to study writing and language but has since fallen in love with the veterinary field and decided to become a veterinary technician in 2010. She is now in the process of becoming a Certified Veterinary Assistant.
Sarah and her husband have a large furry family consisting of a 4 year old Lab, Benson, who was rescued from Labrador Rescuers. They also have 4 cats, Masen (born to MVPC's Addie, when she ADDed to the population with 8 kittens), Henry, Zelda and Emmy.
Sarah is a native San Diegan who enjoys cooking, working on her home, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Sarah enjoys educating clients, learning and teaching about geriatric/preventative pet care and nutrition.
Rachelle Rocky Priest
A native San Diegan, Rocky has quite a bit of traveling in her passport. Her love for animals started at an early age with horses and livestock. She participated in local 4-H where her desire to be in veterinary medicine was kindled. She began working with animals in 2003 and has never looked back. She has attended Palomar College and is currently working on obtaining her RVT license. She has moved around a bit with the military, having worked in Arkansas and Texas. She has finally settled back home in San Diego with her husband and 3 year-old son, Moxxon. She loves spending time with her family and spending time on the softball field playing and umpiring all over southern California. She also is involved with the local rodeo. Rocky takes Blue, her little brindle pit bull, everywhere with her. She has worked with specialists, emergency hospitals, holistic practices, but fell in love with private practice and the relationship with clients and their pets. She enjoys watching her patients grow and being a part of what keeps them and their owner's healthy and happy. Getting her RVT license and continuing to be part of veterinary healthcare for a very long time keeps Rocky motivated. She is extremely happy to have found a home here at MVPC and we are excited to have her on our team!
Client Service Team
A successful entrepreneur, musician, author, and photographer, Melissa has emerged as a talented addition to our practice. Originally hailing from NY, Melissa's photography career took her all across this wonderful country, landing in CA. She brings 20 plus years of customer service and administrative experience to our team. Her attention to detail has made her an invaluable team member. Melissa is always willing to take the time to explain and help clients better understand our services. She is very considerate of clients needs, always going the extra mile. Melissa is also a loving mother to sons Jameson and Liam, born in 1999 and 2004. Among the important values involved with raising these young men, charity is very important to Melissa. She is the head organizer of the charity Kidney For Dominick, which seeks living donors for end stage renal patients. Melissa has an adorable chihuahua mix named Comet who has a big Napoleon complex whenever he leaves the house.
Kathy Meagher, RVT
Kathy Meagher has worked with Dr. Green for many years and came with her to Mission Valley Pet Clinic in 2002.
She was born in Ohio and graduated from Green Mountain College. She then studied at UC Berkeley before obtaining her teaching credential from SDSU. In 1982 she received her Registered Veterinary Technician License from Mesa College.
In addition to helping care for the animals, Kathy functions as the office manager of MVPC. She has two cats: Brae and OB, and two dogs, a coonhound mix, named McCoy and a chihuahua mix named PD which she adopted from MVPC after he recovered from Parvo. She also volunteers at Flying Paws Rescue.
In her free time she enjoys jogging, yoga, tai chi, kayaking, traveling and visiting her children and grandchildren.
Thom became part of the Mission Valley Pet Clinic Family in 2005. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, moved to Arkansas and attended the University of Arkansas for two years. He made the transition to the United States Navy, got an A.A. degree from City Colleges of Chicago, and retired after 20 years as a Petty Officer First Class Photographers Mate.
After retiring from the Navy, Thom tried his hand at various computer related jobs but eventually realized that his true ambition had to have something to do with animals. He worked at an upscale dog day play facility while completing a Regional Occupational Program (ROP) for Veterinary Receptionist.
Thom has one pet, a 14-year old black domestic short hair feline named Kattle but if you were to ask her, she would tell you she has a pet named Thom. His hobbies include: anything to do with Harry Potter, gardening, photography, reading science fiction, travel, watching everything on HGTV and Planet Green, and trying to be green.
Thom is very happy to be an asset to the OUTSTANDING Doctors and staff at Mission Valley Pet Clinic
Originally from Ohio, Emily and her family moved to San Diego 13 years ago. Currently she is a senior at San Diego State University majoring in Biology. Emily has always had an interest in working with animals, and she is a member of the Pre-Veterinary Medical Association at SDSU. She plans to attend veterinary school in the fall of 2018.
Laika is Emily's Chihuahua-papillon mix with whom she likes spending time at the park and beach.
Emily plans to travel to Thailand where she will be working at an animal shelter assisting with many aspects of veterinary care of dogs and cats. She also will be volunteering at an elephant sanctuary, helping with the elephants daily needs.
Giving the animals at MVPC lots of love and attention is something Emily really enjoys. The animals and their owners appreciate Emily's outgoing, friendly personality as well!
Nicoline, a native of Corona, California, moved to San Diego in 2011 to attend San Diego State University. She was a member of the Pre-Veterinary Medical Association and was the treasurer during her senior year. Nicoline graduated in 2016 with a B.S. degree in Biology. She plans to attend veterinary school in 2017
Nicoline has always loved animals and has 3 family dogs: 2 German Shepherd-Rotti mixes named Riley and Karley, and a terrier named Benny. She also has a fascination for reptiles and had an assortment of these creatures growing up. As an undergraduate, she worked with garter snakes under the supervision of Dr. Clark, a Biology professor at SDSU.
Nicoline takes great pride in delivering outstanding care to the dogs and cats boarding at MVPC. She is dedicated to their happiness and well being. We are pleased to have Nicoline working at MVPC.
Lauren is a student at San Diego State University, majoring in Biology. She is an officer and active member of the Pre-Veterinary Medical Association. She plans to attend veterinary school in 2019.
This summer, Lauren will be working with biologist Douglas Seutschman to conduct research on three endangered species of butterflied. Lauren has always had a passion for learning about animals and loves taking care of them. She has 2 cats named Beso and Chico, and a dog named Lucky. The animals boarding at MVPC benefit from Lauren's caring nature and have fun during their playtime, too.
