Wellness Exams

Routine wellness care is key to a long, healthy life for your pet. We recommend annual exams, up-to-date vaccinations, and a proactive approach to nutrition, behavior, parasite control, and dental health. For senior pets, twice-yearly exams are crucial due to faster health changes.

Each visit includes a thorough nose-to-tail exam and a personalized care plan. Just like people, pets thrive with regular checkups—helping them stay happy and healthy at every age.

Surgery
We understand how stressful it can be when your pet needs surgery. At Mission Valley Pet Clinic, we’re here to support you every step of the way and help ease your concerns. We offer a full range of surgical services, including soft tissue and orthopedic procedures such as spays and neuters,  anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair, surgical biopsies, and abdominal exploratory surgeries.

Our team is committed to keeping your pet as safe and comfortable as possible throughout the entire process. We’ll also ensure you are fully informed about all pre- and post-operative care, so you feel confident and supported.

Our surgical services include:

  • Sevoflurane/Isoflurane gas anesthesia
  • Pulse oximetry and EKG anesthetic monitoring
  • General, soft tissue, orthopedic, and ophthalmic surgeries
  • Therapeutic laser treatment to promote healing and reduce post-operative pain and inflammation
Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is a safe, painless, non-invasive treatment that promotes healing and relieves pain—without medication or surgery. It stimulates cellular activity to reduce inflammation, ease discomfort, and accelerate recovery.

Common Conditions Treated:

  • Arthritis & joint pain
  • Disc and ligament injuries
  • Sprains, strains, chronic pain
  • Oral inflammation
  • Skin issues like hot spots

Key Benefits:

  • Reduces pain & swelling
  • Speeds healing
  • Enhances circulation
  • Promotes tissue and nerve repair

Laser therapy can be used alone or alongside other treatments to improve your pet’s comfort and recovery.

Radiography
At Mission Valley Pet Clinic, we use digital radiography—a modern, efficient form of X-ray imaging that produces high-quality images without the need for film or chemical processing. This technology allows for quicker results, enhanced image clarity, and easy sharing with specialty practices such as:

  • Orthopedics
  • Internal Medicine
  • Emergency Services
  • And more

All radiographs taken at our hospital can be reviewed by a board-certified radiologist through VICSD Imaging Services, providing fast, expert interpretations.

Radiographs are a vital diagnostic tool, and our experienced, compassionate team is here to ensure your pet receives the highest standard of care.

Senior Pet Care
As pets age, they face increased risks for conditions like arthritis, kidney disease, heart issues, and diabetes. Dogs are typically considered seniors at 7–8 years old, and cats around 10.

To catch health issues early and support a better quality of life, we recommend wellness exams every 6 months. These visits help us monitor for changes in behavior, weight, mobility, and organ function.

Routine senior care includes:

  • Biannual physical exams
  • Annual bloodwork and urinalysis
  • Dental cleanings to prevent oral and systemic disease
  • Pain and mobility evaluations
  • Nutrition and weight checks
  • Behavior monitoring for signs of cognitive decline

We’ll tailor a care plan to keep your senior pet happy, healthy, and comfortable.

If your pet is entering their golden years, schedule a checkup today.
